The Women's Committee is delighted to announce Becca Gallagher as the winner of the 2020 Pilkington Fair Play award.
This award could be given to Becca most seasons and it is extremely fitting that she should take the award in this challenging season. As well as playing for the Pembroke 2nd XI (4 wickets @ an average of 16 runs), she is also the leading administrator at club and committee level.
She keeps score for the other womens teams, looks after feeding both teams (in a socially distant manner) and was team manager for the Pembroke 3rd XI. This 3rd XI was a late addition to the leagues and shows the commitment that Becca has to ensuring that the game is played in the right manner.
Having originally not entered the team due to anticipated low numbers, Becca soon recognised that there was a group of players within the club that would not get to play matches with only two teams.
She sought the permission of the committee for a late entry, got all the players registered, arranged fixtures with the other clubs and then supported the team all through those matches. What an effort!
Congratulations to Becca for this award and for many years devotion and contribution to cricket in Leinster.
