Halfway through the league phase of the LHW Financial Planning Premier League season, The Hills, in their 50th season, continue to be undefeated in domestic cricket.
Winning away to Phoenix last weekend leaves them atop the table with four wins from four. Visiting The Vineyard this weekend are Malahide who become the latest side to attempt to beat Tomas Rooney-Murphy’s men in Leinster cricket.
It is their second trip north having been beaten by 40 runs on DLS during the Leinster Senior League Cup and Fintan McAlister will be hoping to keep up their good form that has seen three wins follow an opening day defeat to YMCA.
Merrion, similarly to Malahide, have just one loss in the Premier League in 2019 and travel to YMCA looking to pressure the top two for a home semi-final. YMCA for their part will be looking to push up the table and into the top four.
Leinster and Phoenix find themselves at the wrong end of the table too and will be keen for a victory when they clash in Rathmines. Leinster without George Dockrell and Gareth Delany (in the Ireland T20 squad) will be right up against it facing a Phoenix side themselves shorn of Simi Singh. Both may be further distracted by Irish Senior Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, however.
In the final Premier League match, winless Rush travel to Sydney Parade to play Pembroke. Rush have been hampered by international call-ups recently but may benefit this weekend as Pembroke have their international contingent involved in the T20 series against Zimbabwe. So much so, their Irish Senior Cup quarter-final has been deferred but their league match goes ahead on Saturday as scheduled.
In the Championship this weekend, the local derby between Balbriggan and North County takes place at Jack Harper Memorial Park in Balbriggan.
Clontarf who top the table from Balbriggan on bonus points host Railway Union in Castle Avenue, while Cork County travel to the capital to face Terenure in the third match.
Stay tuned to the match centre on www.cricketleinster.ie, watch out for tweets on both @cricketleinster and from reporter Peter Boyd (@fibrofella), with a full match report and images to follow at the close of play.
This weekend, the match under focus will be the meeting at the top of the Premier League table between The Hills and Malahide in Milverton.
