Railway Union are pleased to announce Kevin O'Herlihy as 1st team coach for the upcoming season as we begin preparations for our campaign in Leinster OCC Division 1 , the Leinster and Irish Senior Cups and the T20 Alan Murray Cup. Kevin brings with him a wealth of coaching and playing experience including recently and currently at CUS in his position of Director of Cricket. Kevin also coaches extensively at his home club Leinster CC as part of their Youth Programme and has assisted with the development of many young cricketers in recent times.
The Senior squad which comprises the 1st and 2nd X1s are excited by the challenges that lie ahead this summer. The 1st XI will be captained by Kenny Carroll , and ably assisted by Vice Captain Adrian Murphy. Adrian is one of the most experienced cricketers in Leinster cricket having played extensively across the Caribbean, South Africa and the UK and Ireland over the last 20 years. Adrian rejoined Railway last season after a spell in the North West with Ardmore. However after a promising start his season was curtailed due to injury.
Commenting on the developments , Kenny Carroll said the following:
'The whole squad including myself are looking forward to the upcoming season. We are very pleased to have Kevin on board as coach and also Adrian who will be vice captain. We are pleased with the progress that our young players made last season and we will work hard to continue this upward curve. Myself , Kevin and Adrian hope to build on the work that Kevin O'Brien and Pat Collins put into the club over the last number of years and build on the foundation they have set and example they have set. Our aim is to bring silverware back to Park Avenue which we haven't done since 2011 when we won the League. Wicketkeeper Ciaran Divney also returns to us this season after a year away in Australia. We hope to announce the arrival of a couple of more players including an overseas player in the coming weeks. However, our policy of building from within and developing young players to represent our club at all levels will continue. We are an inclusive club who welcome all those interested in cricket from all backgrounds. If you would like to get involved in any way whether it be playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring or administration please get in contact with us on Facebook (Railway Union Cricket Club) or on twitter @railwaycricket. All Welcome.'
