Railway Union's superior batting proved the difference in the minor cup final in the first match of Finals day at a rain-hit Pembroke.
The weather threatened to take over completely as dark clouds hung ominously over Park Avenue, but North Kildare had nowhere to hide when Tanya MacArthur hit form with her 73 coming from just 67 deliveries, her innings only coming to an end when she was run out. The other main Railway performer was Caoimhlinn Rowan whose 46 came from 54 balls before she was also run out. The Park Avenue outfit ended on a formidable 165 for three wickets.
The pick of the North Kildare bowlers was Anna Kerrison whose return of 1-25-8 was impressive, especially considering the total posted. Kerrison also performed with the bat, her 41 not-out the highlight as they limped to 103 for four.
