It was always going to be a challenge to get a match in on Saturday and so it proved as the forecast heavy rain put paid to another BUAKIT Premier League clash with YMCA against Pembroke being abandoned after 15.2 overs.
After winning the toss wand opting to bowl, YMCA started well when play got underway on time at 12pm.
Tom Anders with 1-7 off his five overs and Bobby l Gamble (1-15) off his opening five over spell meant Pembroke were just 27/2 after 10.
Curtis Campher backed up the opening bowlers with the wicket of fellow international Lorcan Tucker to leave YM well placed in the early stages of the match.
The opposition mainly came from Scott Ruttle who was 31 not out when rain stopped play in the 16th over.
Ruttle stroked five boundaries in his innings, all of them beautiful shots. Two were cut through point, two more driven through cover and the last a glorious straight drive off Campher in the penultimate over.
Unfortunately, that was the last bright spot on a day when the rain was relentless when it arrived.
