Following a long T20 break, League Leaders Malahide travelled to Cork for their Russell Court Hotel Division 2 encounter. Cork called correctly at the toss and on a gloriously hot day, decided to bat. Ross Durity and R Duggan opened and put on 24 for the first wicket when Jimmy Newland had Duggan caught by Pryor for 9. Hassett fell to Peter Chase 13 runs later, caught by D O'Halloran. J Benton joined Durity and the pair batted well bringing the score to 99 where Durity was bowled by Matt Ford for 33. M Bauer joined Benton for a short stay of 11 caught by Y Naidoo off the bowling of A Desai, the score now 5 for 121. Five runs later N Anjum was caught by Shoebridge off the bowling of Neil Boyne. A Cawley and A Saddique put on 42 for the next wicket. Saddique was run out for 20 and Cawley fell lbw to Chase for a well made 24. Cork now 8 for 179. S Joshi was caught by Fintan McAllister off the bowling of Newland and for 10 F Fiaz was bowled again by Newland for 2 leaving D Carey 7 not out. Cork all out for 196 from 47.4 overs. Malahide's bowlers did well. Jimmy Newland 3-37 the main wicket taker. Peter Chase 2-36, A Desai 1-24, Matt Ford 1-38 and Neil Boyne 1-42 the other wicket takers.
A Desai and Cameron Shoebridge opened up for Malahide and proceeded carefully to 25 when Shoebridge was bowled by D Carey for 12. 10 runs later A Desai was caught by N Anjum again off the bowling of Carey. Fintan McAllister and Greg Ford now at the crease for Malahide. Ford for a short stay of 4 caught by Durity off the bowling of D Carey. Matt Ford then joined McAllister for the partnership which broke the back of Cork's total. The pair had put on 102 when Ford fell lbw to Carey for a brilliant 80 from 71 balls. McAllister anchoring the innings from the other end. Peter Chase came and went for 6 caught by Hassett off the bowling of Bauer. Jimmy Newland 27 not out and Fintan McAllister 53 not out brought Malahide home in the 45th over. D Carey was the pick of the Cork bowling with 4-60. M Bauer the only other wicket taker. Malahide winning by 5 wickets and continuing their unbeaten run.
