Leinster Cricket Union have been running its busiest and most comprehensive winter of girls coaching ever. Sessions have been held on Sunday mornings since November at St Mary's College in Rathmines. Friday evening coaching began at the North County Indoor Centre in February.
At total of 30 hours of coaching has been delivered to date across the U11, 13 and 15 age groups. With a further 30 + hours scheduled between now and the end of March. The sessions have been based around the development of core skills in batting, bowling and fielding and have been delivered by a range of coaches including asstistants from players involved with the Irish Women's Development and Academy Squads. The number of players invited at each age group are U11 [34], U13 [54] and U15 [38]. This represents a total of 126 girls currently involved in Leinster underage cricket. With attendance levels high an estimation is that close to 100 players have received approximately ten hours coaching each in the last four months.
