The Spring AGM of the Leinster Cricket Union took place on the 25th February. There were three main matters that were discussed during the evening.
The main purpose of the AGM is to report on and approve the accounts of the Union. Total expenses of the Union were just over €300,000 with a deficit of just under €6,000 on the year. The main expenditure items were on Development Costs [€62,920] and Coaching [€54,313].
The capital account as of 31st December 2015 was €103,508. The meeting approved the audited accounts for the year to December, 2015.
The second major item was an important discussion on the future development of the Union as a company limited by guarantee. The reasons behind the proposal and the process involved were outlined to the meeting. There will be further consultation with clubs and a formal vote will be taken at a General Meeting in the autumn.
The final item was a general discussion about changes in the regulations governing playing conditions and the process involved in proposing and making such changes. It was agreed that clubs would be invited to a special workshop / forum to allow for a full debate on future directions and changes to playing regulations.
The meeting also approved the following motion which allows the Appeals Board.
The following Notice of Motion is presented on behalf of the Appeals Board. That Rule 9.6.3 be changed as follows:
9.6.3. All appeals to the Decisions Appeals Board shall be accompanied by an appeal fee of €100 which is refundable if the Decisions Appeals Board overturn the decision appealed against or reduce any penalty imposed. Should the Decisions Appeals Board confirm the decision appealed against including any penalty imposed then the appeal fee will be paid by the Union to The Lords Taverners or to some other charity.
9.6.3. The clubs represented at the meeting were as follows: Balbriggan, Malahide, YMCA, Pembroke, Rush, Phoenix, North County, Sandyford, Longford, Wexford, Tyrellstown, The Hills, Leinster, Dublin University, Clontarf and Terenure.
