Cricket Leinster are delighted with the news that Robin Kelly will be joining its summer coaching team as part of a 10-week placement through his BSc Sport & Exercise Management course at UCD. Robin will be helping with provincial boys and girls training sessions while also accompanying some squads with their provincial games during July and August. Prior to that, he will also be involved in Cricket Leinster’s Primary schools cricket development programme which is currently in full flow with the Leprechaun Cup, Super league, 4th Class cup and Leprechaun Cup ‘Cailini’ cup games now taking place on a daily basis.
Robin is a regular player with the Pembroke 1st XI, has represented Ireland U19’s at the 2012 World Cup in Australia. He also holds the all-time Leinster league senior batting highest score of 219 off 147 deliveries v Rush at Kenure in 2011. Before moving to Ireland, the talented left hander learnt the game in junior school in Zimbabwe in a well renowned cricketing school called Ruzawi. During his secondary school years, Robin represented Zimbabwe at U13 and U18 levels touring South Africa. He went on to represent his high schools 1st XI while in 4th year and then went onto captaining the team during his final year at Peterhouse Boys school just outside Harare.
