It was surprising enough to get all matches played without interruptions for once, but with the lower rank team in the League Table winning in every match, this was definately a day for the bookies. It what may prove a pivotal Saturday for the league campaign the whole table has tightened up with Terenure recording their first victory and Leisnter their first loss.
The day also saw two very contrasting matches with high scores [over 300] in two of the games and very low scores in the other two. Clontrf put some poor form behind them and led by andrew Poynter [87] and Robert Forrest [79] scored 319/7. Leinster made a commendable response but were really never in the hunt and ended up losing by 93 runs.
The other big scorers were Ralway who scored 305/7 powered by centurioes by Pat Collins and Kevin O'Brien. YMCA were shot out for 86.
The biggest surprise of the afternoon had to be The Hills losing to Terenure. A good all round bowling performance saw The Hills dismissed for 112 which Terenure made quite comfortably thanks to a half-century by Ken MC Donald.
In the final match North County got their season going again with a well desreved win over Merrion. Despite getting off to a good start led by Conor Artmstrong [63] the batting fell away to the mainly spin attack of Merrion to a disappointing 154. Despite losing two quick wickets Merrion looked reasonably comfortable with Tim Lang and John Anderson at the crease but once they fell the batting collapsed and the reply fell 32 runs short.
