D7 Leinster IV are this year’s winners of D7 regardless of the outcome of their game against The Hills III today. Relegation into D6 for Leinster IIIs, however, means that they will likely stay in D7 next year. The same can be =said of second placed Merrion V who would need the club’s IIIrd and IVth teams [both third in leagues at moment] to get promoted to provide space for them in D6. Merrion still have a way to go to secure second spot and are 11% points ahead of third placed Knockharley. Knockharley have two scheduled matches still to play so they are still capable of getting promoted.
At the other end of the table, Bagenalstown have two games to save themselves and could just about catch Pembroke IV if results went their way but with Pembroke and Wexford having a match against each other it is very likely that whoever wins that will be safe whatever happens. Mathematically re-fixes could matter if all were played but with time running out this may not be possible.
D8 Clontarf IV have a comfortable lead at the top of D8 with one scheduled match to go tomorrow against Malahide who are still not safe from relegation. Leinster V are in the other promotion spot but are unlikely to find an available space in D7. They are also being pressed hard by Dundrum II who play a crucial match against Merrion today who must win [and also again next week against Leinster V] to avoid the drop. A very tall order. Wicklow II are already down with only one win for the season [and a lot of penalty points]
D9 Division 9 is the most tightly contested league with Adamstown and Dundalk on an identical 74%. Each team has one scheduled match left so the league will be decided next Saturday. Terenure III and YMCA IV are already relegated.
D10 The promotion places in D10 are already determined with Sandyford II and Leinster Vi on their way up for next season. But the fate of the D10 league is still undecided and if Sandyford slip up today against Phoenix IV they could open the way for Leinster in the head-to-head between the two teams next week. At the bottom of the table Cabinteely are relegated but if Phoenix lost their last two games they could drop below Pembroke V who are second last and have completed their season.
D11 There are a lot of games scheduled to be played in D11 before the end of the season. Knockharley II are comfortable in the lead with 78%. Laois II are 15 percentage points behind them with no scheduled match to play. Railway IV, who are second place on 71%, have one match to play tomorrow. The league is Knockharley’s to loss and they really should wrap it up today if they secure a win against Bagenalstown II.
At the other end of the table North County V are adrift with only one win for the season, although they have three matches to play. North Kildare III who are also in the frame for relegation can mathematically catch Bagenalstown but it is difficult to see the table positions changing by the end of season.
D12 D12 has been led from the start by Greystones who have eight wins and no losses. There are still two rounds of matches to play so Wexford II in second could catch the leaders. Greystones play Wexford tomorrow which could finally settle the league. Whatever happens Wexford will be promoted. Pembroke VI are relegated and will probably be joined by Dundalk II who would need a number of results to go their way to effect an escape. [Note: Dundalk receive WO from Belvedere on 8th Sept]
D13 D13 is another league where there has been a dominant team all year. Ring Common with nine wins out of 14 have a couple of matches still to play [nine team division] but if they can win today against Rush IV will be uncatchable. Leinster VII are also looking fairly secure in the second promotion spot and they play relegated Knockharley today. Railway V have completed their season and are the other team relegated.
D14 It is pretty much all settled in D14. Clonee have a match to play today but cannot catch league leaders Dundrum III. Both teams get promoted. Unless the OCC decide to have a 15th league next season – relegation is not an issue.
