Without doubt the weather this year has been unkind to batsmen and as a result only one, Bill Coghlan from Clontarf, has qualified for the Marchant Cup. In 2011 three players got over 500 runs. As one would expect the averages themselves show a drop where the top three qualifying in 2011 had a higher average then Coghlan this year.

The all-rounder award is decided upon by the OCC. BPs based on ‘points awarded’ are set out below. Perhaps the most interesting comparison with last year is that the average number of points per match for the top 10 highest performers dropped by 10 percentage points. The top three all-rounders in 2011 scored over 70 points each per match – this year only three made it over 60.
