Rush Cricket Club have become the latest Fingal Club to add Cricket4All activities to their clubs offerings. Over the last six weeks, the club has hosted children with additional needs from the local school at St Catherine's NS.
During a six week block of sessions, the local children learned how to play table cricket where the students played and competed alongside one another at the grounds of their local cricket club, for some children it was their first visit.
Sean McCann from Rush CC has commented on the benefits for the club since introducing the project -
Since Rush Cricket Club has introduced the Cricket4All, it has been a major success due to the good work done by Killian. There has been brilliant feedback from parents of the kids who took part. We hope with the help of Killian and Cricket Leinster to expand Cricket4All in 2024.
Killian Molloy, the coordinator for the Cricket4All programme in Fingal has added -
It has been fantastic to see Rush CC take on this project with such enthusiasm. It is brilliant to see another Fingal club take on the project with open arms and welcome a group of children to the club, who previously would not have had the opportunity to play and visit the sport. As every club is different in regards to facilities and locations, I feel the work that has been done in Rush is a testament to what can be achieved by any club looking to implement a more inclusive offering to their membership base. I'd encourage any club to give it a go.
Carol Coyle , from St Catherines has commented on the benefits that the sessions have had for the children -
Cricket Leinster have provided an entertaining and dynamic programme that allowed every single child to participate in their own way in the game of cricket. All the children in my class enjoyed going to play cricket and we are looking forward to going back in the new year.
Cricket Leinster are keen to continue work with Rush and other clubs in regards to advancing the Cricket4All programme.
