In the big match of the day Malahide squared off against Rush and came out on top by 110 runs. Malahide batted first against tight Rush bowling. However Malahide's run machine Greg Ford again found form and guided The Village to 224 for 6 with another magnificent not out century. Rush found the going hard and apart from Stephen Doheny mostly struggled, finally being all out for 117. A 25 point win for Malahide.
Balbriggan travelled to College Green and definitely brought their A game. Dublin University inserted the opposition and although the sun didn't shine initially, Balbriggan made hay. Opener Conor Fletcher and Adrian Harper both past 50 before drinks and then Balbriggan pushed on. Harper fell first but that didn't stop the onslaught. Fletcher went on to make a brilliant century before falling for 113. Timcen Maruma and Nathan Rooney finished off in style, Rooney 42 not out and Maruma a brilliant 92 not out. A highlight was when Rooney hit a massive six out into Nassau Street. Balbriggan finished 322 for 4. Dublin University were under pressure from the start with Kashif Ali and Duane Harper hitting their marks. Ali taking 4 and Harper 3 as Dublin University were bowled out for 101. A 221 run victory and 25 point for Balbriggan.
Terenure attempted to get their season up and running with a trip to Park Avenue. However things didn't go as plan. Losing early wickets didn't help they then ran into R Dhammika who had a day of days with the ball. 4.4 overs, 1 maiden, 6 for 17. Terenure all out for 71 in the 21st over. Railway didn't hang around, losing 3 wickets in reaching 75-3 in 10.4 overs. Kenny Carroll's 34 not out steering Railway home to a 7 wicket victory.
