Another fine September brought about a full program of league cricket - remember that feeling, as in a couple of weeks it will be all over for 2014.
There are not too many official scorecards in at this point, so this summary remains unofficial, but gives everyone involved in vital matches today, an idea of what they need to do!
Division 3 - Clontarf 2 beat Civil Service 1 in a high scoring match, with centuries for Collier and Gopal (Clontarf) and Siddique (Civil Service). It makes little difference to the table though, as Civil Service are already down, and Clontarf's wait for the title depends on YMCA's three matches next weekend - including the match between Clontarf and YMCA.
Division 4 - With Phoenix 2 already crowned champions, it is all aboiut the fight between Malahide 2 and Merrion 3 for second place. Malahide beat YMCA by 26 runs thanks to 52 from Richard Wing, and Merrion overcame champions Phoenix. It means both are still in the race for that second spot
Division 5 - James Smith took 4-21 as Terenure 2 bowled Railway Union 3 out for 141. However, that was a decent total on an end of season pitch in Park Avenue, and Terenure needed all their skill and luck to get home by 1 wicket, with Michael Hogan top scoring with 44. The five points that Railway got in losing were enough to ensure their safety, whilst also condemning Clontarf 3 to the drop. The final relegation place will now be between Merrion 4 and North County 3
Division 6 - No games yesterday
Division 7 - Adamstown 1 comprehensively beat Merrion 5, taking maximum points in their final game of the season. It was enough to confirm the Division 7 title, with the Corkagh Park club going from strength to strength. Merrion's loss was enough to confirm Laois 2 as the runners up in Division 7
Division 8 - Three big matches in Division 8, with Leinster confirming the title, after being long term leaders. They beat Bagenalstown yesterday by 8 wickets. Civil Service 2 won well against Knockharley 2, triumphing by 77 runs. The race to the runner-up spot is wide open, and is going to need the official scorecards submitted to sort out. Civil Service look to be in the driving seat, with three more matches to come in - which includes a match against YMCA from June. At the bottom, Malahide 4 beat YMCA 4, thanks to 5-45 from Martin Nicoll and 4-16 from Riley Shoebridge. Malahide chased down 118 for the loss of five wickets. The second relegation spot remains a fight between The Hills 3 and YMCA 4
Division 9 - Ringcommons 1 gave a walkover to Sandyford 2, but can still technically escape relegation - although with games already played, it may just be overdue scorecards that are keeping them up. Mullingar 2 beat Swords 1, which still means that Swords are mathematically in the relegation shake up. At the top, third place Greystones 2 beat leaders Phoenix 4 by 27 runs. It makes the top of Division 9 impossible to call, and we will make no comment until the scorecard is in! The title and runners-up spot remain a three way battle between Phoenix, Greystones and North County 4
Division 10 - Castleknock 2 beat Pembroke 5 by 8 wickets. That was enough to send Pembroke 5 down, and coupled with the news that Clontarf 5 were unable to field a team on Sunday, Clontarf 5 will join Pembroke 5 in relegation, meaning Castleknock are safe
Division 11 - News from the top of Division 11 was that Longford 2 had won the league. They needed 21 points, so presumably they got them! The result would mean that Adamstown 2 cannot catch Lucan 1 (they can still match them, but Lucan won both matches between the teams), so Lucan 1 finish in runners-up spot. North County 5 beat The Hills 4 by 2 runs, but North County are already down
Division 12 - No news from the one match - Bagenalstown 2 vs Adamstown 3
Division 13 - Rush 4 (already relegated) gave North Kildare 3 a walkover. Unfortunately North Kildare needed 25 points from 25 from the fixture, and only received 20 from 20. The vagaries of the percentage league system mean that North Kildare can no longer catch Laois 3, who are confirmed in the top two spots. However, Dundrum 3 still have two to play, and could drop below North Kildare
Division 14 - Leinster 7 beat Champions Wicklow County 2. However with Leinster's result against Merrion midweek still to come in, the situation at the top of Division 14 is too hard to sort out. Please get those cards in!
