With six of the seven preliminary rounds of the IBI Corporate Finance Leinster Senior League/Cup completed there is an opportunity to reflect on what is an increasingly important part of modern cricket - the scoring rate of batsmen and the economy rate of bowlers.
The first thing to be said is that the overall scoring rate is 0.72 per ball for the competition so far. All the top scorers [200 plus runs] exceed this rate. Three players, Jurie Snyman [121.8], Lorcan Tucker [108.9] and Michael Lewis [108.1] are all scoring at better than a run a ball. But going a little further down the list [anyone with more than 100 runs / 40 places] the list of fastest scorers is as follows.
The table for bowlers [anyone with overs bowled / 25 places] see players included with an Economy Rate of less than 4. Only one player has managed to drop below the 3 runs per over mark - Josh Newport from Balbriggan.
