The CL Schools Senior Girls Final is the pinnacle event for Girls cricket at Secondary Schools level.
This competition dates back 44 years when the trophy was first won by The King's Hospital who defeated Alexandra College in the Final by 31 runs. Grainne Clancy (who was subsequently capped for Ireland Women in the 1980s) was the star performer in the inaugural competition taking 19 wickets at just 1.4 per wicket. In recent times, the dominant school has been St Andrew's College who have been Champions on 6 occasions in the last decade. The trophy was won for the first time in 2022 by Mount Sackville
This year's finalists are Wesley College (Ballinteer) who are the holders (having defeated Mount Temple in the 2023 Final) and Mount Temple who are seeking their first Senior Girls title. In a repeat of last year's Final, Mount Temple will be hoping to go one better this year and put their name on this prestigious trophy for the first time.
The Wesley team is underpinned by some high quality club cricketers (including players from Merrion, Pembroke and YMCA), some of whom have also represented Leinster and Ireland at underage levels including their captain, Ally Boucher.
The Mount Temple team is also composed of some very impressive cricketers who will be very familiar names within the club cricket community, especially at Clontarf CC. It is brilliant to see Irish International Freya Sargent named in her school team alongside her sister (Gemma) and club team-mates from Clontarf including Julie McNally and Lucy Barry.
Two strong sides capable of delivering an exciting and highly competitive Final.
The two squads who will compete in the Final are as follows:
