The draw for the 2019 Senior League Cup took place in the Green Isle Hotel during the Club Day.
This competition will be played during the first part of the season. There are two groups of seven teams who play each other once. After that League stage, the top two teams in each group will play Semi Finals. The Final will take place in early June and will be the first piece of silverware decided next season. The format of the competition will be 50 over matches, played in Coloured Clothing. Exact playing conditions will be decided in due course.
Dublin University are taking part in this competition and will be looking to challenge for the cup in the early part of the season. However they will not take part in the league in the latter part of the season, with Cork County taking their place in the league.
The eight teams that finish in the top four places of each group will take a place in the Premier League for the balance of the season. The remaining five teams, plus Cork County take part in the Championship. Should Dublin University finish in the top eight positions then the next ranked team will take their place in the Premiership.
Group A sees some excellent clashes with 2018 Division 2 winners Malahide first out of the draw. North County vs The Hills is always a closely contested game. Group B sees the Clontarf vs Merrion rivalry continued with Pembroke looking to set an early season standard at the same time. Every match in this competition will be meaningful across the whole of the league cup programme and each team will be looking to top the table and make it to the Premier League in the second half of the season.
