With the season fast approaching and the weather turning to somewhere near what us cricketers are accustomed to, YMCA Ladies are starting to dust down the cobwebs and are hitting the nets!
The return of Clare Shillington and Rob O’Connor to the coaching staff has added stability to the young, developing side. And with the addition of overseas pro Brook Hepburn from Australia, head coach Shillington is feeling confident. “This is our second year back in first division having only restarted our ladies section three years ago. Our side is young (mostly!) and keen to push for the top stops in both the league and cup this year. The addition of Brook from the Tasmania Roar side is huge for us. I’m hopeful that she will not only perform on the pitch for us but that she will also be a mentor and guide for the younger girls who are pushing for representative spots.” YMCA are looking forward to taking on Miriam Grealey's Pembroke side in Sydney Parade on the 30th April and wish her success (except against them of course!) in her new role as head coach.
