Clare Shillington's 121 with 14 fours and eight maximums - three of them hit off consecutive balls - put Rush into a commanding position by the time she was caught off Shauna Kavanagh's bowling with the score on just 150.
Pembroke started well, Kim Garth taking the first wicket of the game in the first over. Shillington, who usually captains Malahide but plays in the Pilkington Plate for Rush, soon got going though. All she needed was players to stay with her which Clodagh Conway and Ciara O'Gorman did, only scoring four and three respectively.
Carole McGuire came to the crease in the 13th over and she shared a partnership of 88 with Shillington before the centurion was sent on her way. McGuire, who had been content to play the supporting role up to that point, then accelerated and ended on 66 before she was run out.
Useful contributions from Kim Tyrell (28) and Alison Smith (25) helped to bring the total to 283. Pembroke's bowlers took a battering, Kim Garth's 2-40 from eight the best of the day for the southsiders. Captain Ciara Metcalfe had a tough day at the hands of Shillington ending with figures of 1-67 from 10. Her final six overs, though, only went for 21 runs.
Shauna Kavanagh took the most wickets with four, but she was also expensive, going for 51 from her 9.1 overs.
The 'Broke then did one better than their opponents, losing their first wicket on the first ball of their innings. Emma Flanagan was caught behind off Alison Smith's bowling and it only got worse for the visitors. Judith Hayward was run out by Claire Carthy for nine three overs later, and Smith claimed the wicket of Shauna Kavanagh after another three overs. She was out for 13 to leave Pembroke in trouble on 32-3.
Kim Garth soon followed, another catch her undoing, and though Louise McCarthy rallied well scoring 39, she was out offering up yet another catch which told the story of Pembroke's innings. The Rush fielding seperated the sides as five of the Park Avenue side's top six were out caught, while the other wicket was a run out.
Claire Carthy did for the lower order, taking five of the last six wickets. Alison Smith did well for her adopted team, tearing through the top order and ending with figures of 3-24. But it was Shillington's day as she put Rush into a winning position early on with her majestic knock and she was awarded the player of the match award.
