Phoenix W1 v Leinster W1
Phoenix 69/5 in 16 overs (A Keenan 12, Z Craig 10, A Canning 3-23, S MacMahon 2-15)
DLS Target: 76 in 16 overs
Leinster 76/2 in 13 overs (L Delany 25*, S MacMahon 31*, G Dempsey 1-19, Z Craig 1-13)
Leinster win by 8 wickets (DLS)
Tricky batting conditions including a rain interruption made it very hard for Phoenix to gain momentum against a disciplined bowling attack. None of the batters really got hold of the innings and Phoenix would have been glad when their 69/5 was upgraded to a target of 76 under DLS.
The Phoenix bowlers had some success with both Dempsey and Craig getting a wicket each. But the strength of the Leinster team was evident with Internationals Delany (25*) and MacMahon (31*) seeing them to the target with 3 overs to spare.
Merrion W1 v Pembroke W1
Merrion 130/5 in 20 overs (C Raack 24, C Joyce 45*, L Little 2-24, S Kavanagh 1-26, A Beale 1-15, Z Bell 1-25)
Pembroke 131/4 in 19.2 overs (M Waldron 81*, S Bhoja 3-21, S Stewart 1-23)
Pembroke win by 6 wickets
A solid Merrion innings was undone by a brilliantly paced knock from recently retired Mary Waldron.
Merrion opener Celeste Raack battled hard to give her team a foundation and met a kindred spirit in Cecilia Joyce who made an excellent 45* to give the team something to bowl at.
But the reply was all about Waldron and she dragged her team across the line as the Merrion bowlers kept taking wickets at the other end.
Malahide W1 v The Hills W1
The Hills 125 all out in 19.5 overs (T Dunne 35, M Musonda 25, S Condron 2-33, M O’Halloran 2-27, A Kerrison 4-12, B Deacon 1-13, S Mitchell 1-1)
Malahide 126/2 in 19.2 overs (A Kerrison 41* S Condron 53*, J Maguire 1-20, A Maguire 1-36)
Malahide win by 8 wickets
An excellent 4 wickets for only 12 runs from Anna Kerrison ensured that Malahide took home a comfortable victory in this Fingal derby. The Hills batted first and when their talismanic batter Mary-Anne Musonda fell early, to be followed by prolific Tahlia Dunne they would have known that setting a strong total would be a challenge. Kerrison’s spell, together with two wickets from Condron and O’Halloran meant that the pressure never relented.
Malahide weren’t under such pressure, despite tight bowling from Jane and Aimee Maguire, Ireland’s newest international siblings. After a wicket for each Maguire, Kerrison and Condron both showed their all round ability with 41* and 53* respectively.
YMCA W1 v Clontarf W1
YMCA 110/5 in 20 overs (S Forbes 48, L Barry 2-30, C Coulter Reilly 1-19)
Clontarf 111/2 in 13.3 overs (C Coulter Reilly 28, R Searle 48, L de Klerk 1-12, E Walker 1-6)
Clontarf win by 8 wickets
YMCA batted first and Captain and opener Sarah Forbes scored 48 before being run out. She was supported by Siuin Woods (16) and Robyn Lewis (15) with 24 extras. Lucy Barry was the best of the bowlers with 2-30.
In reply Clontarf openers Coulter Reilly and Searle continued their good form with 28 and 48 respectively. Despite both losing their wickets, Clontarf reached the target with more than 6 overs to spare.
