Rush W2 win by 3 runs
A captivating final between two well matched teams came down to the last ball, with Rush coming out on top to take their second cup victory of the weekend.
In a low scoring match the Rush innings was built on the foundation of 18 from opener Rebekah O'Donohoe, supplemented by the tail wagging from Mabel O'Donohoe (12) and Lauren Wilde (24), getting the 20 over total up to a competitive 87. All the Clontarf bowlers did well with Alyssa Pasley leading the attack with an excellent 2-19 off 5 overs.
In reply the Clontarf top order fell victim to great bowling by Elyse Jones (2-12) to leave them struggling at 22/3. A great partnership of 35 between Pasley (21) and skipper Laura Granger (16) left Clontarf needing 30 off just over 8 overs.
While Clontarf might have fancied their chances the Rush bowling continued to keep things tight and by taking regular wickets they were left needing 10 off the last over, to be bowled by Aisling McCormack.
Clontarf would need a boundary early but excellent fielding by the Rush team restricted them to needing 6 off the last ball for a tie (and Super Over). The ball was well hit but three was all the Clontarf team could manage, to scenes of great joy and despair in equal measure.
