Cricket Leinster, with reference to the statement issued by An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD this morning in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic and the statement issued by Cricket Ireland as our National Governing body, has decided to cancel all School Programmes and Training Sessions under our auspices until March 29 2020.
This includes all aspects of our Local Authority-based schools programme and all our indoor training sessions at various locations throughout the province. Our planned ‘coaching’ course for midland clubs will also be postponed to a later date. The HBL Indoor Session this weekend will also be postponed to a later date.
The health and safety of our volunteers, players, staff, coaches and families within the cricket community is our key priority, and we will take all necessary actions to do our part in limiting the spread of the Coronavirus.
In addition, Cricket Leinster will undertake the following actions:
All Cricket Leinster staff will continue to be available by phone and e-mail to provide any supports required by our clubs and to handle all queries as normal.
While we are not in the regular season for cricket at this stage, we are conscious that most clubs will have a scheduled programme of pre-season activity underway. We appreciate this disruption may inconvenience many, however, we believe it is in the best interests of both the cricket family and the wider community, and we sincere thank everyone in advance for their cooperation and understanding.
We will continue to actively monitor developments on a day-to-day basis, and provide further updates in due course.
