Yesterday I communicated the decision that all 50 over matches due to be played as part of Women’s Division 1 this Sunday 30th April were postponed. This decision was made by myself as Chairperson in consultation with Philip Smith, General Manager of Cricket Leinster.
It is very exciting to be reintroducing 50 over cricket back into the domestic setting and I want to be sure that we are encouraging and supporting clubs appropriately with this effort. There is also some further consultation required with the umpire’s association to copper fasten our regulations for the longer format’s return. This would have left the three matches without official umpires.
Taking the above into consideration I have exercised my right as Chair, in the best interests of Women’s cricket in Leinster, to postpone all matches due to be played this Sunday. I apologise for the late notice and any inconvenience caused.
