Castleknock Cricket Club has just completed their first Summer Camp which was held at their home ground at Porterstown, Castleknock.
Kids aged 6 to 16 enjoyed hours of cricket fun and coaching by one of our finest coaches ex Irish International and present YMCA all-rounder Reinhardt Strydom.
Fingal also benefit from Reinhardt’s valuable experience he is presently the Fingal Development Officer for Cricket and lots of school and college kids in the D 15 area have benefited from his coaching.
Also in attendance on the Sunday was Simi Singh he is currently a youth coach at his club YMCA and plays alongside Reinhardt.
Castleknock Cricket Club has gone from strength to strength last year we had two teams and the seconds Division 11 were runners up in that division. This season we have added another team division 14 made up of most of our juniors. We already have had some success with our firsts (division 6) as they collected the first ever cup medals for our club albeit runners up medals which is not bad for their second season they were in the final of the Middle Cup against Malahide which was played out at North County.
We propose to have an under 11 or 13 section next season and judging by the standard of the summer camp cricket we should be able to mix it with the well-established clubs.
Thanks to all involved especially Adnan Ajmi and Willie Barr who made sure everything ran smoothly for the three days the weather held up and the kids enjoyed the snacks and refreshments that we on hand.
