It has been a busy week for Table Cricket with Cricket Leinster teaming up with Dublin Sport & Wellbeing staff members Lisa Kelly and Nuala O’Donovan to deliver programmes at two Dublin City Council venues.
Two tournaments were held at Sports & Fitness Ballyfermot and Cabra Parkside Sports Centre with teams from the following services taking part.
St John of Gods (2 centres)
St Michael’s House (3 centres)
Further activities are being planned for the winter months.
Lisa Kelly, who acts as Dublin City Sports and Wellbeing Partnership Sports Inclusion & Integration Officer has been delighted with the addition of Table Cricket to what they can currently offer the various disability groups commenting;
‘We are delighted to build on the success of the Table Cricket blitz’ from last year, due to the popularity of the sport and to cater for the increasing demand. We now have two venues hosting monthly blitz’s and increasing numbers participating to over 150 split between the two venues. All the participants from last year’s blitzes were eager to get back to the wicket and play some further games. Great fun and competitive rivalry was had by all’.
