On March 11th, Cricket Leinster delivered a Table Cricket tournament at Ballyfermot Sport and Fitness Centre to mark off what has been a fantastic couple of months of activities in the Dublin City area. It was the 6th and final tournament of the year that has taken place since last September. Each participant received a medal for the final tournament.
We had six teams participating with 50-60 players who took part in each tournament. Each team competed in three games on the day at each tournament. All teams involved have put a lot of hard work and dedication into training.
The centres involved included:
In the build up to the competition, each group had completed a training block, learning all the different skills involved in Table Cricket.
Newly appointed Dublin City Sports Inclusion and Integration Officer Lisa Kelly has really been driving this programme forward. “The tournaments have been brilliant. It has been fantastic to see the enjoyment all participants got from taking part. All groups loved the training in the lead-in to the tournaments and we hope to build on this from year to year”
Well done to all participants at the tournaments – an exciting and enjoyable couple of months for everyone involved with the teams. I think I can safely say on behalf of all the participants, helpers, coaches, carers and staff that were involved, that this is certainly a programme to be repeated.
Cricket Leinster would like to thank Dublin City Sport & Wellbeing partnership and The Lord Taverners for their continued support of these programmes and to Ballyfermot Sport and Fitness Centre for hosting the tournaments. We would also like to thank Lisa Kelly, Sharon Kelly and Michelle Watters and all the carers from each centre for driving this programme forward.
