Derek Scott in his lifetime brought together a treasure trove of material on the history of cricket in Leinster. His Archive contains books, magazines, scrapbooks, scorebooks and a miscellany of brochures, pamphlets and newspaper articles. But without doubt the most important part of the archive are the record books he created and maintained himself on club cricket in Leinster. There is a hand-written record of every player who took part in a Leinster Senior match going back to the foundation of the Leinster Senior League in 1919. Each year the match records for each club were entered up in a large ledger, together with averages, lists of players and notes about special events. For every club [including for some that no longer exist] there are statistics around how clubs performed against each other, who scored most runs, lowest and highest team totals and much more. It is doubtful if there is a better record of club cricket anywhere in the world.
There will be a small sample from the records for people to look at during the Club Day. Also if anyone wants scanned copies of their club records just bring along a memory stick. It is the intention to put all these records up on the Cricket Leinster website but if anyone is impatient [and it could take a while yet] they can take a copy now.
The archive cover the years 1919 - 2010. After this date the records are availbale on the Cricket Leinster Data Centre
