Put away the slide rule - the top of Division 9 has already nearly been sorted out.
Dublin University 2 were confirmed as champions many moons ago - in fact it was predicted here back in April!) and Knockharley 2 are fast moving in on the points total needed to join them in Division 8
As it stands, Knockharley need 17 more points from their four remaining matches - their first attempt will be this Saturday in North County. Even if they lost on Saturday, a Mullingar 2 loss on Sunday in Sandyford would see Knockharley promoted.
At the bottom of the league, it is a whole different pan of haddock. All seven teams from Mullingar 2 in third place, down to Swords 1 who are currently in 9th place, have a very real chance of being relegated. Five wins would probably mean safety, but six would guarantee it.
That would mean Mullingar 2 and YMCA 4 would to need to win one from their last four or five games. At the other end, North County 4 and Sandyford 2 need to win two from four.
Sandyford and Swords still have to play each other twice, and the matches on August 27th and 31st look crucial,
