Rush bowler Daniel Thorne has won the 2016 ‘Find a Fast Bowler’ award following several excellent performances with the ball when playing school, club and provincial cricket last summer. The award goes to promising fast bowlers from the Leinster region and this is the 11th year this programme has been in existence. It looks to identify young fast bowlers so club and provincial coaches can monitor their progress, offer them advice and help them to achieve their full potential.
Announcing this year’s winner was North County, Leinster Lightning & Ireland bowler Eddie Richardson who is now a member of the Leinster under-age coaching staff. ‘I was impressed with Daniel when seeing him last summer bowling at both at club and provincial level. He spearheaded the Leinster attack at both the u13 interpros and the Taunton festival with a lot of success. He has been one of the leading bowlers at the Leinster winter sessions to date. I look forward to working with him and the other Leinster seam bowlers when the u13 & u15 age-group sessions resume in the New Year’.
