Match Day Four of the IBI Corporate Finance Premier League and Championships threw up three extremely one-sided affairs this afternoon, as there were comprehensive victories for each of Pembroke, Phoenix and Leinster.
Kicking off in Malahide, the home side would have been delighted with restricting Leinster to just 142 all out in the 37th over. 30s for Saqib Bahadur and Joey Carroll the only contributions of any real substance for the away side as both Kelvin Donnelly (4/31) and Jeremy Martins (3/40) were in the wickets. The chase however never really got going in earnest, Martins once again top scoring with 23 as an excellent spell of 5/7 from 4.1 overs for Bilal Azhar, with support from Mark Tonge (2/27), saw Malahide all out for just 76, securing a 66 run win for the Rathmines side.
In Jack Harper Park, Phoenix made a torrid start, falling to 15/4 and 53/5, before Jack Lalor shared hugely influential stands of 86 with Amish Sidhu and 82 with Adam Chester as the Australian compiled a fantastic 149* from 140 balls, featuring 14 boundaries and 6 maximums, dragging his side back from a terrible start to a perfectly reasonable 260/9 in their 50 overs. Sebastian de Oliveira and Sam Willemse were the pick of the bowlers for the home side, taking 4/46 and 3/49 respectively. The chase was never into gear, Cameron Rowe making 24 at the top of the order, however the next person to pass double figures was top-scoring debutant Jordan Hollard at number 8, making 34*. Lalor rounded off an unbelievable day out taking 6/27 from 7 overs, whilst Amish Sidhu took 3/33 as Balbriggan were 106 all out inside 23 overs.
Finally in the IBI Corporate Finance Premier League was this afternoon's featured action in Sydney Parade, where Pembroke won the toss and elected to bat first on a beautiful morning to bat. Following a remarkable moment of magic from Paul Ryan, taking a one-handed catch to dismiss JJ Garth, Tim Tector added a nice stand of 38 with Diarmaid Tucker, before the latter was also caught by Ryan off the bowling of Cillian McDonnell.
What followed was an excellent partnership between Tim Tector and Nick Stapleton, with the pair adding 132 from 130 balls, seeing off spells from Fionn Hand, David Delany, Reuben Wilson, McDonnell and Ryan, before Tector passed his 100 from his 99th delivery in the 36th over. Having brought up his century he watched on from the non-strikers end as Nick Stapleton was bowled for a well-compiled 60.
Tector's 100th ball would be his last as the very next ball after Stapleton was dismissed, he nicked Hand through to Rahul Dalal behind the stumps to be dismissed for an excellent century, featuring 6 fours and 4 maximums. That pair of wickets brought Fiachra Tucker and Jack Tector together at the crease, a partnership of 76 was dominated by Tector, before Tucker was dismissed for 27 by Reuben Wilson.
Jack Tector brought up a fine half-century before being dismissed for 58 from just 42 deliveries, striking 8 fours and a six, before some fireworks from Gavin Hoey, making 22 from just 7 balls brought the score beyond 300, Pembroke eventually finishing 320/7 in their 50 overs. Ethan Marshall the pick of the Tarf bowlers taking 3/50 from 6 overs.
The chase started with a 50 run partnership between Eoghan Delany and Mitchell Thompson, before Stapleton's rotation of his three seamers finally saw a breakthrough in the 10th over, Delany bowled by Byron McDonough for 17. There followed a partnership of 45 between the Thompson brothers, Mitchell and Henry, before Mitchell was finally pinned in front by McDonough for 49.
The next over bowled by McDonough saw Clontarf's overseas man Rahul Dalal bowled by a nip-backer, leaving them 106/3 at drinks. Henry Thompson and Paul Ryan fell in quick succession with the score on 121. Fionn Hand was dismissed by Riley before Andrew Delany fell to Stapleton, leaving the score 167/7 and David Delany as the last line of defence.
McDonough returned however to dismiss Delany for 40, claiming his fourth wicket of the day, before he emphatically bowled Reuben Wilson and Cillian McDonnell to claim his fifth and sixth wickets in an absolutely excellent spell of bowling, finishing with 6/21 and guiding Pembroke to a 132 run victory, as their unbeaten season marches relentlessly onwards.
The IBI Corporate Finance Championship saw some relatively one sided cricket in parts too this afternoon, starting off in Kenure, Rush batted first and as everyone knew would happen sooner rather than later, Josh Doyle came good in a really strong manner, stroking an excellent 156 from 131 balls, sharing several good partnerships as Rush posted what would be universally accepted as an unassailable 340/7 from their 50 overs. That proved to be just right, however 72 from Bakhtyar Nabi and 53 from Syed Medhi Shah saw NK picking up a bonus point as they made their way to 244 all out in the 40th over. Nathan McGuire and Nasir Totakhil taking three wickets apiece for the home side.
In Inch, North County batted first and thanks to 38 for each of Alan Joseph Mathew and Eddie Richardson and 32 for John Devane, they made their way to 206/8 in 50 overs. Cian Nulty was the pick of the bowlers for The Hills with 3/35, whilst there were two apiece for Tómas Rooney-Murphy and Nicolaj Damgaard. Eddie Richardson once again proved to be the man for the big occasion in the second innings, as he took 5/30, supported by two apiece for Abdul Sattar and Alan Joseph Mathew, in rolling The Hills over for just 117 in the 24th over. Andy Kavanagh top scoring with 30 for the away side.
Cork County batted first in The Mardyke against Civil Service, and 91 for Mark Andrianatos, supported by 56 for Syed Aiman and 47 from skipper Ross Durity guided the side to 293/5 from their 50 overs, Asadullah Ahmadzai the pick of the bowlers for the away side taking 2/48. The Service chase started off nicely, and was anchored by Deepak Jayachandran who made 45, whilst there was a nicely compiled 79 from jut 74 balls from Arjun Chandrasekar. He became the second of Syed Aiman's two victims when last out with the score on 199, however it was Nabeel Anjum who stole the show with the ball, taking 4/30 in securing a 94 run win for the home side.
Finally was the all-Southside affair in Terenure, who won the toss and sent Railway out into the field. Having made a muddly start and falling to 60/4, a 90 run partnership between Raghav Grover (60) and Darsh Shetty (39) put the home side back on track, with Kripesh Shetty's 32* lifiting the score to 249/9 in 50 overs. Liam McCarthy (3/41) and Piyush Sharma (3/36) the pick of the bowlers for the away side in an innings which fluctuated throughout. Terenure's defense got off to a good start with the early wickets of Ashil Prakash and Rob O'Brien, however a huge partnership of 123 between Srihan Karpe (53) and Hedayat Khogiani (85) took the score to 164. Three quick wickets for debuting leggie Jinal Khatri gave Terenure hope, however an unbeaten stand of 82 between Liam McCarthy, who was unbeaten on 64 from just 35 balls, and Sean O'Brien, who was happy to play second fiddle, saw Railway the only successful run chase of the whole afternoon, winning by 5 wickets with nearly 13 overs to spare.
