Cricket Leinster can today confirm the groups for the 2021 editions of the Tillain Cup and YMCA Salver Competitions.
Following on from the successful competition formats in 2020, it was clear from clubs there was a desire to retain a greater level of T20 cricket for the coming years, as a result of this, these competitions are now set to be played as a group stage round robin, with the top two sides from each group qualifying for the three-round knock-out stages.
The Tillain Cup will account for mainly Division 3 and 4 sides, with an even 16 being made up by the addition of Division 5 sides Adamstown 1 and Civil Service 1.
Holders Merrion 2 have been drawn in Group A, whilst the side they beat in the final, Knockharley are in Group B. The full draw can be seen on the table below
The YMCA Salver accounts mostly for Division 5 and 6 sides, with Clontarf 3 the sole Division 4 representative, whilst Leinster 3 account for the one Division 7 place in the tournament.
Neither last year’s winners or runners-up compete in this season’s edition of the competition, Balbriggan 2, the 2019 victors are found in Group B, whilst there’s representatives who competed at a higher level last year, in the form of Civil Service 2 in Group A, and Terenure 2 in Group D. The full draw can be seen below.
