Despite the doom and gloom, the pitter and patter, there is still some cricket being played, and remarkably some are still managing to eke out some precious runs.
Below is our occasional look at who are the top run scorers in the OCC, when everything is added together, and no account is made of the quality of the opposition?
Last time these stats were pored over, Johnny Andrews of North County was top of the pile. Since then however, North County have stopped playing, and there is a new leader in Rashid Meraj of Laois. For Laois 1sts this year, he has now scored 411 runs at 68.5, with his last few knocks being 134 and 93. The 1000 run mark is a definite possibility.
John Andrews raced to an early lead, but in the last four weeks has only scored 7 runs at 3.5 which is in stark contrast to Meraj! Third on the list is Muhammad Tahir Raza of Railway Union. It's probably safe to say that Raza has taken advantage of the low league that Railway Union 4 play their cricket in. For the 3rds he has struggled with 69 runs at 17.25, whilst on the 4ths, it is the much healthier 460 at 76.67.
No such excuse from Theo Lawson though, who has dominated Division 2 so far this year with a fairly astonishing 501 runs at 71.57. After experiencing a duck in the first match of the season, his sequence of scoring has been 26, 50, 22, 78, 72* , 46, 24, 100* and 83*. Not surprisingly, Pembroke 1 sit on top of the Division 2 table, and are in the final of the RSA Leinster Senior Cup.
The top 5 is completed by Alex Mathew who it must be said has just played lots of cricket for Dundrum 1 and 2. 455 runs at 30.33 is the lowest average in the top 10
A special mention to the youth players on the list - Robin Kelly of Pembroke (9th), Jack Tector of YMCA (13th), Daniel Hogan of Terenure (21st) and Michael Kerr of Merrion (23rd)
