One would have thought that this most apocalyptic of summers would have favoured the bowlers over the batsmen. Whilst this is true to a certain extent, the preponderance of artificial wickets across the province has meant that bowlers have had to work just as hard as normal to get anything from the pitch.
The provinces most successful bowler so far - the one that can say he has celebrated more than any other is Vimal Jacob of Sandyford. Until last week he was languishing in the lower depths of this particlular list, but 6-7 against Pembroke 5 and 3-3 against Leinster 5 has transformed his figures. This 9 wickets for 10 runs helping his average overall to 32 wickets at 10.81.
Jaspreet Toor of Adamstown is another who is only now finally found his line and length, The last three outings have all brought four wicket returns making 30 wickets at 10.63.
Paul Lawson of Pembroke matches his brother with third spot on the bowling. The Lawsons have been the two pronged toasting fork that has been Pembroke this year - and as they enter the roaring inferno that is the second half of the season, they will both be needed.
Just outside the medal places are Umar Khan of North County and Ajith Ravi of Railway Union.
Special mentions to youngsters Tom Stanton (Merrion, 12th)), Gareth Delany (Leinster, 14th), Mark Gibson-McKenna (Phoenix, 27th), Andrew Delany (Clontarf, 20th) and David Murphy (Laois, 26th), who have made the top 30 at the season's half way point
