On Thursday, October 3rd, Tyrellstown Cricket Club started cricket coaching for children held at Tyrellstown Community College.
The club is making huge progress and their men’s cricket team entered the Leinster Cup competition this year for the first time.
There will be cricket training for boys and girls held throughout the winter and there are currently 25 children participating in cricket for the first time. The sessions are being delivered by Ireland ladies international Clare Shillington. Members from the club have also completed coaching courses and are assisting Clare with the weekly coaching.
The club is currently waiting for use of facilities at a new development area in Tyrellstown itself which will hopefully be completed by the end of next year. The park will have its own cricket ground that the club (and local schools) will have full use of for outdoor training and matches. The club will also in the coming months run an indoor cricket festival for adults in the Community Centre.
These training sessions are fantastic for children in the area and a big congratulation have to go to the club members for putting them in place. Many thanks also to Fingal County Council who continue to invest in cricket development programmes in the Dublin 15 area.
