On a beautiful afternoon in Corkagh Park, Tyrellstown 3 won the inaugural Adamstown Cup
Having won the toss Tyrellstown decided to bat first, initially it looked like it could have been a bad decision, as some very tight bowling from Athlone restricted Tyrellstown to 27 for 2 in the first 8 overs.
After scoring eight singles and a two, Rajesh Karmakorda (42) cut loose with a fine display of power hitting, three towering sixes and a four, ably supported by Sai Kiran Padmanabuni (18) quickly brought a bit of respectability to the score.
The opening bowlers for Athlone should feel entitled to take a bow. Ihsan Ullah 1-10, Yash Khatri 1-16 and Bilal Iqbal 0-9 all completing excellent 4 over spells.
Athlone 1 innings got off to a bad start losing both openers in the first over, however Bilal Iqbal (43) had no intention of rolling over, hitting five boundaries including three sixes, in truth after he departed the result was never in doubt.
Tyrellstown's were bowlers squeezing the life out of the Athlone batting line up, with only Ishal Ullah (11) reaching double figures. Tyrellstowns bowling attack was led by man of the match Anup Kishan (3-13 from 4 overs) and Amit Sharma (4-9 from 4 overs).
