In recent years Cricket Leinster has established strong working relationships with the four council areas in Dublin – Fingal, South Dublin, Dublin City and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.
A new venture this summer saw the setting up of a new U12 competition with boys representing their Districts. Sitting just below representative Provincial cricket it proved a most worthwhile exercise with six T20 games being played during July and August.
Marion Brown, Principal Sports Officer with Fingal County Council was most impressed with the new event commenting ‘we are delighted to yet again be involved with several highly successful participation programmes currently being rolled out by Cricket Leinster – The Leprechaun Cup, Super league, 4th class cup, Leprechaun Cup ‘Cailini’, Top Throw competition, Cricket Factory promotional events and most recently the U12’s District competition. These competitions continue to offer boys and girls formal, competitive cricket throughout the summer period which has huge benefits for everyone involved’.
