With a series of interprovincial fixtures and tours taking place for Leinster under-age boys and girls squads currently, Cricket Leinster have received a timely boost with the news that Veolia Ire have agreed to continue to sponsor the province’s youth sides.
The sponsorship will see new coloured clothing being supplied to the U15 and U17 boy’s squads whose interprovincial games this year will be again played using a white ball along with also assisting with the growing costs of running the Leinster youth playing programme.
Commenting at the launch of the new sponsorship deal, Business Development Director for Veolia Colm Flanagan was quick to recognise the current growth and exposure the game has been receiving of late.
‘It is evident from the general progress being made along with the very encouraging results that the Leinster Union continue to set the highest of standards within Irish cricket. We are happy to be involved again and we are fully aware of the current growth of the game across a variety of playing formats. We look forward to following the 2016 youth programme and we will attend some of the games when possible’.
Veolia, which supplies energy management services, as well as water and waste options to businesses, has been making big strides in Ireland of late.
Following a recent €450m contract, the company is in line to operate Mayo Renewable Power, Ireland’s largest independent biomass power plant.
That will come on stream in 2017 and immediately represent 6pc of Ireland’s renewable energy.
Employing 500 people in the country, this latest 300-job expansion, though, is more focused on what it calls a ‘circular economy’ – with roles coming on stream over the next five years.
Veolia are also sponsors to leading Dublin GAA club St Vincent’s in Marino.
