Merrion 97-10 (McKenna 21. R. Lewis 1-6, Peterson 3-17)
YMCA 77-10 (R.Lewis 35 Delaney 2-12, Breslin 2-13).
Isobel won her second toss on the trot (pigs do fly) and chose to bat. Robyn 1-6 and Gaby 2-19 bowled in tandem, and had Merrion struggling to put away anything on an incredibly low and slow wicket (even by the usual Merrion standards)! The pair along with 3-17 from kiwi Anna Peterson, meant that Merrion limped to 97 all out off the 20. Kate Mckenna (21) the only person in double figures.
YM openers Shillers and Gaby Lewis were wisely cautious of bowlers Rachel Delany and Julianne Morrisey on the slow track. Pressure built and Rachel claimed her two victims, which sent a determined Robyn Lewis to the crease. On a tricky pitch she stuck at it managed to build an innings. When Sadhbh Breslin bowled Anna Peterson and then trapped Lucy O'Reilly lbw the very next ball, it appeared Lewis might run out of partners. Merrion pushed the field out, as Lewis hit some lovely boundaries in what was definitely the cricket highlight of the day to go with her great opening spell of bowling. She was eventually caught out in the deep and Merrion won by 20 runs.
