A busy week for T20 Competitions. Over the first three days of the week we have the Semi-Finals of the Tillain, Whelan, YMCA Salver and Russell Court competitions. Interestingly there are no less than 15 different clubs involved - showing that success in these competitions is well spread.
Although we have reached the halfway stage of the season for the Russell Court [D1 / D2] Leagues there is still an amount of tidying up to do in terms of re-fixtures. There are no less than 8 matches this week and we really won’t know how things stand in the battles for promotion and to avoid relegation until these are all finished. The list of matches are:
Day | Div | Home | Away | Venue |
Tues: 27th June | RCD1 | Clontarf | Pembroke | Castle Ave |
Tues: 27th June | RCD1 | North County | Phoenix | Inch |
Tues: 27th June | RCD1 | YMCA | Cork County | Togher |
Tues: 27th June | RCD2 | Merrion | North Kildare | Anglesea Rd |
Tues: 27th June | RCD2 | Rush | Malahide | Kenure |
Thur: 29th June | RCD1 | Leinster | The Hills | Rathmines |
Thur: 29th June | RCD2 | Balbriggan | Terenure | Jack Harper MP |
Fri: 30th June | RCD2 | Merrion | Terenure | Anglesea Rd |
The experience so far this year is that T20 re-fixes have provided fruitful ground for teams lower in the table to spring an upset. So look out for surprise results.
Next weekend we have another round of the LHK Insurance T20 [Alan Murray] Competition, the QFs of the Middle and the Middle II Cups as well the normal programme of league fixtures.
For those that may have missed the coverage during the afternoon yesterday - there were two very exciting games in the QFs, with Railway defending a relatively low score to overcome Pembroke and The Hills, chasing a YMCA total of 164, coming back from 62/6, thanks to an unbeaten 95 run partnership between Max Sorensen [92*] and Harry Archer [20*]. The Semi-Finals are now scheduled for the 16th July.
