The High School 153/5 in 25 overs (R O’Brien 129*, J Russouw 16, M Pienaar 3-29, S Bowling 1-31)
Wesley College 154/2 in 19.5 overs (J Woods 69, C Fox 52*, M Pienaar 17*, L Dodd 2-34) Wesley College win by 8 wickets
The High School won the toss and decided to bat first on a humid day in Wesley College. Good early inroads from M Pienaar left High School precariously placed at 28/4.
However Robert O’Brien was still there and over the next 15 overs he faced most of the strike and scored almost all the runs. He finished on a magnificent 129* including 12 fours and a six.
That left The High School with an imposing 153 off 25 overs, would Wesley College be able to match the High School heroics?
Openers Wood and Fox went about their task in a very methodical fashion, seeing off the High School openers and putting on a partnership of 110 for the first wicket. Wood was first out for 69 (2 fours and 3 sixes) and then Fox kicked on to make 52 (2 fours and 1 six). Despite Fox getting out with only 5 to win the home team got over the target with one ball to spare.
An excellent match between two strong teams and a great result for Schools cricket.
