The Live Match Centre has been going from strength to strength, with it now being the most popular way for cricket followers in the province to keep up to date on club fixtures.
There have been a few problems over the last few weeks though, with tweets sent in by players and spectators not showing up in the match commentary. If you don't use Twitter, please ignore, as the following may totally befuddle you!
We can now explain why this is happening, and what we are going to be doing to sort it out.
In the last few months, Twitter has made changes to the way non-Twitter sites can interact with Twitter. This applies to all websites, and obviously includes Cricket Leinster. Our problem is that twitter searches no longer return all the tweets we are looking for (for example those tweets with hashtags #cricketleinster and #4756), but instead only those tweets that Twitter feels are relevant to us.
In reality it means that those of you who send us Match Centre updates, but rarely tweet to @cricketleinster, may not be getting through.
The best way we have to counter this, is to make your tweets relevant to the @cricketleinster account. So over the next few weeks, we will continue to identify the accounts that are being affected. We will be tweeting to those accounts, hoping to build up a relationship between us, and making Twitter realise that you are relevant!
We would ask those accounts affected to tweet back to @cricketleinster - anything cricket related is interesting! Keep tweeting your updates to the Match Centre using the hashtags of #cricketleinster and the match id, and shortly, everything should be working properly!
