Winter umpiring and scoring courses
Over the winter LCUSA will organise another Level 1 Umpire Course as well as a Level 1 Scorer Course.
Is retirement as a player getting closer, feeling the ol' bones&muscles more than you used to, or would you like to get involved but not necessarily as a player, why not take up umpiring - you'll be in the best spot to watch all the action. If you have some experience umpiring and would like to be the next Aleem Dar, or if you want to help your club by umpiring youth/adult matches, this is the perfect start. Whichever path you want to go, the Level 1 course is an intensive few days and will give you a better foundation on the Laws of Cricket and the basics of umpiring.
The Umpire course will be held in the weekend starting Friday 18 January, 7 pm. Once again we are very fortunate to have Terenure CC available for this course.
If you have done a bit of scoring and would like to know more, or if you're already scoring for a team and would like to see a bit of the world as part of the Cricket Ireland or ICC Europe panel of scorers, the Level 1 scorer course is a good way to start your career. At the moment, we have no date and venue confirmed; normally the course would be held in March or April.
If you want to participate in either or both courses,, or if you have questions, please send an email to the LCUSA training officer, Inge Bevers, at lcusaeducation@yahoo.ie.
To all scorers who have previously done the Level 1 course and would like to further their education: please contact Inge for more information.
