Merrion 1 v Malahide 1 at Anglesea Road
Merrion won the toss and elected to bat on a lovely evening at Anglesea Road. Leah Paul and Sadhbh Breslin opened for Merrion. Maria O'Halloran and Aisling McCormack took the ball for Malahide. The score had reached 39 in the 5th over when Sadhbh Breslin was caught by Caoimhe McCann off the bowling of Sarah Condron for 24. Hannah de Burgh White hit a quick 26 from 16 balls before being caught by Niamh Walsh. 91-2 in the 10th over. Leah Paul was batting beautifully all the way through to the start of the 15th over when she was caught by Caoimhe McCann off the bowling of Sarah Condron for a brilliant 61 hitting 10 fours. Isobel Joyce was bowled by Niamh Walsh in the 19th over for 35 from 26 balls. Rachel Delaney not out 4 and Cecelia Joyce not out 18 brought the score to 182-4 from the 20 overs. Malahide's bowlers tried hard but suffered from the strong Merrion batting line up. Niamh Walsh 2-20 bowled well. Sarah Condron 1-22 and Maria O'Halloran 1-38 the other wicket takers.
Malahide faced a big chase and didn't get off to a good start when Paris Crowe was bowled first ball by Isobel Joyce. Anna Kerrison and Caoimhe McCann brought the score to 19 when McCann was again bowled by Isobel Joyce for 14. SO Murphy joined Anna Kerrison for a partnership of 38, Murphy bowled by Celeste Raack for 21 from 17 balls. The score now 4-61. Mary Waldron was bowled by Sadhbh Breslin for 11 on the first ball of the 16th over. Niamh Walsh and S Brophy brought the score to 115 when Brophy was run out by Cecelia Joyce for 7. Niamh Walsh was run out by Isobel Joyce for a well made 30 from 34 balls. Aisling McCormack not out 0 and Isobel McCormack not out 1 when the overs ran out. Malahide had reached 117 for 7 in their 20 overs. Merrion bowled very well with Isobel Joyce 2-13 starring. Sadhbh Breslin 1-36, Celeste Raack 1-20 the wicket takers. The fielding was excellent also with three run outs. Merrion victorious by 65 runs.
Pembroke 1 v The Hills 1 at Sydney Parade
The Hills won the toss and asked the home team to bat. Claire Shillington and Louise Little opened for Pembroke. They brought the score to 12 when Little was bowled by Jane Maguire. Shauna Kavanagh joined Shillington and the score accelerated to 48 in the sixth over when Kavanagh was bowled by Aisling Byrne for 15. Orla Prendergast was run out by Jane Maguire an over later for 2. Pembroke now 3-51. Stephanie Barman didn't last too long, caught by Alana Ryan off the bowling of Natasha Morton. Shillington a rock at the other end, batting beautifully. The score now 4-56. Anna Beale came to the middle and the biggest partnership of the innings began. Shillington and Beale combined beautifully to put on 93 runs before Shillington finally went, bowled by Anna Mooney for 74 from 44 balls, hitting 11 fours and 2 maximums. Mhairi Nicoll was c&b by Anna Mooney next ball for 0, the score now 6-149. The hatrick ball came and went unsuccessfully. Anna Beal fell lbw to Anna Mooney for 27 from 25 balls. Mooney now bowling brilliantly. Hannah Little the last wick to fall caught by Aisling Byrne off the bowling of Tracy Clinton. Pippa Guy not out 1 and Lesley Ring not out 8, left Pembroke posting a score of 167 for 8. The Hills bowling had some highlights. Anna Mooney 3-17 standing out. Tracy Clinton 1-22, Aisling Byrne 1-23, Jane Maguire 1-25, Natasha Morton 1-35 the wicket takers.
Alana Ryan and Veronica Faye-Watt opened for The Hills. The pair started brightly and had gotten to 40 at the start of the 7th over when Ryan was c&b by Hannah Little for 18. Anna Mooney went soon after c&b by Anna Beale for 4. Veronica Faye-Watt perished an over later for 14, caught by Clare Shillington form the bowling of Hannah Little. The Hills now 3-47 and needing to rebuild. Cliodhna O'Reardon and Tracy Clinton tried hard but the bowling was good. O'Reardon was bowled by Mhairi Nicoll for 8. Tracy Clinton c&b by Orla Prendergast for 3. The Hills now 5-65. Rhianna Pope and Aisling Byrne brought the score to 81 before Pope was unfortunately run out by Mhairi Nicoll for a well made 16. Natasha Morton was bowled by Louise Little for 1. Jane Maguire not out 1 and Aisling Byrne a fighting 13 not out meant The Hills finished 99 for 7 from their 20 overs. Pembroke's bowling was excellent. Hannah Little 2-18, Orla Prendergast 1-8, Anna Beale 1-20, Mhairi Nicoll 1-23 and Louise Little 1-26 all successful. Pembroke getting home by 68 runs.
