Bagenalstown CC will be hosting their Women’s Open Day on Sunday, March 19th at 1pm in McGrath Park, Bagenalstown. This is part of the start to the season for the Carlow club, which now has a vibrant youth structure, 3 established men’s teams in the Leinster league, as well as the club entering a team in the inaugural season of the Development League in the LCU.
Genevieve Corrigan, a member of Bagenalstown CC Women’s committee said on the announcement: “We are delighted be starting women’s cricket at the club for 2017. We have had a good interest from locals and people who have never played cricket before. We can’t wait to get going!”
The club is promoting the Open Day in schools, local clubs that already have women’s teams in Carlow and Kilkenny, as well as through radio, local notice boards and newspapers.
Bernard O’Mara, a member of Bagenalstown CC committee said: “From our promotion that we had at the start of the year, we have had cricket clubs in Kildare and Dublin contacting us to do games and blitzes and we are really excited about getting going for the season.”
