Pembroke opening bowling duo of Garth and McCarthy were firing on all cylinders making life very difficult for Merrion. On a hard deck they used the short ball very well, Kim in particular bowling some hostile lines and lengths. Rachel Delany was out lbw byHannah Little as a result of pressure built in first 4. HDBW dug in to see out their opening spells and together with Isobel Joyce, exploited the middle overs. Joyce was out stumped off Murphys bowling for 15 and her sister joined HDBW. Ceil played confidently and fluidly and gave a lesson on running between the wickets. HDBW was eventually out in the 18th over, caught behind off McCarthys bowling for 58. Ceil ended not out on 27. Mer 127-4 (HDBW 58,C.Joyce 27*,Garth 1-9,McCarthy 2-23)
Pembrokes chase started off strong with Meg Kendal and Kavanagh happy to rotate the strike well and punish the bad balls. They batted with maturity and the game was really never in doubt. They raced to 112-0 with Meg doing the main damage but when Rachel Delany trapped Kavanagh lbw for 35 in the 15th over the game got a little interesting. McKenna bowling off spin had Garth out next over for 2 and then Delaney bowled McCarthy for 3. McKenna took her second victim , Prendergast, with a sharp catch from keeper Beamish. Kendall waiting patiently the other end was able to dispatch the next ball for 4 and Pembroke chased in the 19th. Kendall 65*,Kavanagh 35, Mckenna 2-9 Delaney 2-19)
